WatchAwear.com The best thing to happen to Watchmaker

The Watchmaker app is without doubt the best app for your android smart watch.

What makes it great is not only the flexibility of the in app tools, but also the great community that share their ideas and finished projects.

In order to create a half decent watch you need images you can layer on the watch. Lots of talented people can make their own in photo shop or some other drawing app, but many more people don't have the access or knowledge.

If you fall into the later category then the number 1 place to find the images that will help you turn an average watch into a great watch is WatchAwear.com

It is free to browse and download images and zip packs - everything from shadows to watch hands - most created by the website owner +Terry Zahn, but many are the work of other members wishing to share their skills.
The site also has a large tutorial section that helps with coding tricks and display tips.

And to top it all you can upload your finished watches to the site for others to appreciate.

If you use something you got from the site (hands, shadows, templates etc) then it is requested that you post your finished watch on the site. This is no big ask for all your getting FREE and it only takes a few minutes to complete the upload page and then you have a copy on WatchAwear should anything happen to the one on your phone.

In partnership with the Watchmaker app owner, Watchawear also hosts competitions where you can enter your unique creations for cash prizes (Terry pays these prizes himself, as the site is not cluttered with unsightly advertisements)

If you wish and feel the owner is deserving (he is) then you can also donate to help with running of the site. You can do this directly on site or using the PayPal me method https://paypal.me/wolfspyryt

Top 10 WatchMaker Faces

My top 10 Watchmaker faces for Smart Watches running Android Wear

The Watchmaker community on Google+ is the number one place to find the widest range of watch faces for your Android Smart Watch

Having been a member since I got my Moto360 just before Christmas 2015, I've witnessed the community growing with increasing speed. Fast enough for me to realise that that we are just at the beginning of what is possible.

The range of talent covers the entire spectrum, from very green beginners to top notch photoshop wizards. As I write, there must be 10s of thousands of watch faces available to download and use. Personally, I have close to 1000 stored in my Dropbox, and choosing 10 favourites is no easy task.

The generosity of these members always staggers me, and picking 10 from all the talent is in no way suggesting that others designers not on my list are not good - they are, just in a different ways and will appeal to different people for different reasons.

And talking about generosity, nearly all the following watches have hands created by +Terry Zahn, and can be found on his website www.watchawear.com  - A website dedicated to all things Watchmaker (more about that later)

I've made my selection based purely on personal preferences like readability and the general beauty of the face.

Antonio has listed many watch faces, but this stands out for me as his best

A classic and superbly replicated by the very talented Nite Owl for both round and square watch faces - Stunning

One the most prolific watchmakers in the community, Artur can churn 3 or 4 beauties a day. And most of them originals under his Hexagen Brand - I like this because I'm a sucker for a brown face

Bob produces some of the most customisable watches, giving the wearer the choice of colour themes, percentage of dim level, day colours, night colours, high contrast bright light modes. One of the talented coders

Sunthorn makes a great many watches (lots of hand drawn Disney replicas) and most come with a history too. This is one of his earlier designs and doesn't really do justice to how good he now is, but I love this for its simplicity and easy time telling

A stunning recreation of the original WW2 watches, that have been emulated and "improved" on by every watch company out there. But this labour of love with true to life night dim modes adjusted for time of night is the best I've seen
